Utah Proposes Bill To Ban Gambling

After so many months of waiting for online gambling to move in the direction of legalization, it looks like not all states are on board with it. One such state is Utah, which has hatched a new plan for online poker prohibition.

The State of Utah is prepared with a plan should federal legislation for legalized online poker become a reality. A member of the state’s House of Representatives, Stephen Sandstrom has introduced a bill that will ban online poker in the state, should federal legalization happen.

Stephen Sandstrom, from the city of Orem stated that “We want to keep Utah free from the negative impacts of legalised gambling.”

The bill, known as House Bill 108, would have to be passed by both houses of the Utah legislature, as well as signed into law by Republican Governor Gary Herbert. If passed, residents of Utah would be prevented from gambling on the Internet via all types of terminals, including computers, handheld devices, and other means that would allow players to go over the ban.

Currently Utah and Hawaii are the only states that prohibit any form of gambling. This may not be the case for long though, as Hawaii has been considering legalizing gambling in the state. If that is the case, then Utah is going to be fighting the good fight on their own.
